The Heschel School

Heschel High School welcomed Eric Berger to perform a one-man-show titled Heschel’s Passover Eve. The performance illustrated Rabbi Heschel’s journey from young adulthood through his involvement in the Civil Rights Movement. This was a unique opportunity for our learning about Rabbi Heschel to come to life on stage.

The phrase l’dor v’dor, from generation to generation, was beautifully illustrated as fourth grade students, their parents, and special visitors attended the opening of the Fourth Grade Heschel Heritage Museum. This months-long project was planned and created by the students, with the help of their teachers. Students researched heirlooms that have been passed down in their families and interviewed family members about the meaning of their Hebrew names. Students created shadow box scenes in their art classes depicting the belongings they would like to pass down to future generations.

Grade 2 students painted their murals that will adorn their classrooms for their A Tale of Two Cities program that will showcase their year long learning about New York City and Jerusalem.

Heschel parents gathered for the annual Volunteer Breakfast to celebrate the work that the many volunteers take part in to help sustain the community. Thank you to all of our volunteers on the following committees:
