Early Childhood Admissions

 

Applications are available when a parent attends a prospective parent tour of the school. Group tours are scheduled from late September through early December. Parents should call the school to arrange a visit. The application deadline is December 3, 2010.

Children applying for Nursery must reach their third birthday by September 1 of the year they begin. Applicants for pre-kindergarten must be four years old by September 1, and applicants for kindergarten must be five years old by September 1.

Upon receipt of an application, the Director of Admissions will call parents to schedule a half-hour play visit for the child and to schedule an additional time for parents to meet with an administrator.

Kindergarten applicants require the results of testing by the Educational Records Bureau (ERB) (212) 672-9800.

School reports from current schools are required to complete the application. The reports should be submitted to Heschel by January 15, 2011.

Notification of acceptance complies with the guidelines established by the Independent Schools Admissions Association of Greater New York (ISAAGNY). Notification for Nursery and Pre-K will be mailed on Tuesday, March 1, 2011. Kindergarten will be mailed no later than Friday, February 11, 2011.
