2023 High School Shabbaton Recap

Last weekend, the High School held its annual Shabbaton at the Hilton in Woodcliff Lake, NJ. The weekend was filled with so much laughter, bonding, and learning. On Friday, we began our time together with lunch and circle games followed by our annual theme session. The theme for this year’s Shabbaton was corruptive disruption and our sessions, led by members of the student government and councils, focused on social media, ChatGPT, and a teaching from Rabbi Heschel. After a communal candle lighting to bring in Shabbat, students gathered in Tefillah spaces followed by a delicious Shabbat dinner. Our Friday night programming concluded with learning sessions led by our faculty, grade activities, and Shabbat activities such as the Tisch. On Saturday, students gathered together for services, lunch, and free time. Our afternoon consisted of a full school trivia program, grade activities, and a new Master Class program presented and taught by members of the senior class. We finished our time together with a beautiful musical Havdalah led by the Heschel Harmonizers and our annual game of Panopoly, a multi-media trivia game! Looking forward to next year’s Shabbaton
