Grade 11 Physics Class Teams Up With Computer Programming Studens
Grade 11 Physics students learned that all falling objects near the surface of the Earth accelerate downward at the same rate. Trying to verify that by dropping an object from various heights and measuring how long it takes to reach the floor allowed the class to calculate how fast the object speeds up as it falls. Grade 11 Computer Programming students created a code that measured the time between two loud sounds - knocking the mass off of a shelf and then it hitting the floor. Physics students used the code to test the standard description of falling objects.
