When the Abraham Joshua Heschel School was founded in 1983, a new model of Jewish day school was created. Named after one of the great Jewish leaders, teachers, and activists of the twentieth century, The Heschel School opened with a commitment to creating a pluralistic Jewish community dedicated to the values that characterized Rabbi Heschel’s life: intellectual exploration, respect, integrity, love of the Jewish people and tradition, and a commitment to social justice.

High School Cross Country Team Competes in Season's First 5K MYSHAL

The Heschel High School Cross Country team ran in this season's first 5K MYSHAL race at Van Cortland Park and finished with impressive results. Leah Namdar-Cohen took a silver for second in the girls race, with Mia Steinberg coming in 12th. The boys team also had a fine showing, with freshman Ori Needleman taking a second place silver, and fellow freshman Judah Klingsberg coming in 25th. The Heschel team will tackle the famed Van Cortland Hills course again this Sunday at 3:00 PM.
