The Heschel School

The High School community gathered for a LGBQT+ faculty panel led by senior Elana Nussbaum-Cohen, ally and member of the High School's Gender and Sexuality Alliance. The panel focused on some of the internal and external conflicts that each faced during their "coming out", and for those members of the faculty panel who are Jewish, how their religion played a role in their self-discovery. At the end of the program, one student asked the panel, "what would you tell your younger self, knowing what you know now?"  The panel members provided overwhelmingly supportive answers ranging from "you are not alone", "things get better", and "you have an incredible story to tell, don't be afraid to tell it."
